Starting at 10:30am we are sharing the stoke of Stand Up Paddle Boarding with any youth who wants to learn. This is our mission at Urban Surf 4 Kids!Urban Surf 4 Kids is a unique outreach organization that works with orphan and foster kids.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve tried almost every kind of workout. But one remains consistent: a series of yoga poses I do first thing most mornings. The routine doesn’t require chanting or opening your chakras. It’s four basic stretches that activate the muscles, open the joints after hours in bed, and clear the cobwebs. Best, the whole thing requires only 10 minutes. Before each pose, take a deep breath and exhale as you move into position. Once you reach your limit, breathe in and exhale again; this helps muscle fibers relax and allows you to go deeper into the stretch.
Summer came early in Sunny San Diego and brought beautiful weather and sunshine. Stand UP Paddle Board season has already began, especially for tourists coming to Southern California escaping the cold weather back home. The SUP Connection located in Point Loma, San Diego is now open for the weekends and already taking adventure seekers out on the water. The SUP Connection’s Operational Manager & Certified SUP Instructor Samantha and her Dingo Jack, also owner of SUP Pups San Diego, are receiving calls left and right to teach Dog Lovers how to Stand Up Paddle Board with their pup!
Danny Ching and Erika Benitez have taken out the 2016 Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge in San Diego’s Mission Bay, with 500 paddlers showing up on a crisp morning for this classic, early season race. The Infinity speed freaks Dave Boehne & Slater Trout took line honours on their tandem SUP, while Rob Rojas snuck across for second over the line on his unlimited. But in the main battle of the 14 footers, Danny narrowly edged out his new team mate Noa Hopper, with Chase Kosterlitz, Chuck Glynn, Chance Fielderand Gabriel Beauchesne Sevigny all just seconds behind.
There are several reasons to train with a partner or group. Firstly, it is someone to hold you accountable on those lazy days when you really don’t want to paddle, but know you should. When you’ve made plans to meet, you gotta show up or risk being called out on Facebook for being a flake or a “loser.” Also, when you set a workout goal with your training partners you are more likely to complete a challenging workout or task than you would be if you were alone.
Gift cards are available in $25, $50, $75, $100 and $200 denominations. Cards can be mailed to you within 24 hours of purchase along with a brochure and business card. When starting the beginning of my career in the water sport industry at a Stand Up Paddle Board rental company, The SUP Connection, my passion for the sport grew tremendously. Couple months into the new company, I was rewarded with my very own ‘Killer’ stand up paddle board. I fell in love with the size and color, but soon started to realize the original traction pad was not working out.
Finally the process is finally done!!! My new Custom Made traction SUP deck pad.
I feel so blessed, a huge thank you to SC Wake for creating a one of a kind, safe, stylish traction pad for Jack and I . Thank you Greg!! Whoop Whoop ! For working with me one on one and helping me design and custom create my pad. Wouldn’t have done it without you and Joe!
The SUP Connection is very excited to once again help sponsor the 2015 PaddleFest held at Bonita Cove on Mission Bay October 17th, 2015. The children were so much fun and it was our pleasure to help spread the stoke for paddleboarding to many that have not had the opportunity to yet. We always look forward to this annual charitable event. This year, The SUP Connection provided 10 Bounce paddleboards and provided 5 different time slots for SUP instruction. Thank you to Wes and everyone else that helped make this yet another successful event.
